About Me
Meet The maker
Hi, I am Anamaria Harabagiu — founder, designer, and maker at Hanas Leather.
Hanas Leather was born from a journey that started far from England, long before the first stitch was ever sewn.
My relationship with leather began during my years studying automotive engineering in my home country. At the time, I took an apprenticeship as a vehicle trimmer—never realising it would change the direction of my life. For four years, I crafted bespoke car interiors by hand, learning to shape leather with patience, precision, and respect. That workshop is where I fell in love with the material: its honesty, its scent, the way it ages beautifully with time.
I moved to England in 2017 in search of a better life and new opportunities. For a long time, work had nothing to do with craftsmanship. But in 2024, everything aligned. I was offered a job where I could finally use my leatherworking skills again—helping a waste-management company reclaim discarded leather and transform it into luxury pieces for an emerging brand.
Working with reclaimed leather didn’t just remind me of my old passion. It reignited it. It showed me the beauty of giving materials a second life. It taught me that luxury and sustainability can share the same space.
When my mental health led me to resign that job, it felt like a setback—until it became a beginning.
From that moment, Hanas Leather took shape.
Today, I craft small-batch, slow-fashion leather goods using Italian vegetable-tanned leather, floral cotton linings, and carefully selected reclaimed pieces. Every item is made by hand in my small home studio—with the same dedication I learned back in that vehicle-trimming workshop.
My mission is simple:
to create meaningful, lasting accessories for people who value quality, craftsmanship, and gentle individuality.
Pieces that age with you. Pieces that feel like they have a story—because they do.
Hanas Leather isn’t just a brand.
It’s my journey.
My craft.
My second chance.
And I’m honoured to share it with you.
