Leather is one of nature’s most enduring materials — valued for its strength, depth, and quiet beauty. At Hanas Leather, each piece is handcrafted using traditional leatherworking techniques and full-grain Italian vegetable-tanned leather, chosen for its character and ability to age with grace.
With mindful care, your leather will last for decades, developing a rich patina that reflects time, touch, and personal history.
Preserving Beauty & Longevity
Vegetable-tanned leather is a living material. Like skin, it responds to its environment and benefits from thoughtful nourishment. During the first six to twelve months, the natural oils within the hide provide protection. As the leather matures, gentle conditioning becomes essential to maintain suppleness and prevent dryness.
A high-quality, natural leather balm will replenish lost oils, protect the fibres, and preserve the integrity of your piece for years to come.
Avoid heavy or harsh products such as dubbin or neatsfoot oil. Though once widely used, they can weaken fibres, damage stitching, and leave leather overly saturated or sticky over time. Instead, choose a balm formulated specifically for vegetable-tanned leather and respectful of its natural pH.
Care, Simply Done
- Clean with care
Gently wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature. Never apply direct heat. - Condition sparingly
Using a soft cloth, apply a small amount of leather balm in circular motions. Allow it to absorb slowly, ideally overnight. - Refresh when needed
Repeat every few months, or whenever the leather begins to feel dry to the touch.
A subtle deepening of colour is natural and expected. This is the beginning of a richer patina — a mark of well-cared-for leather.
A Material That Tells a Story
Each Hanas Leather piece carries the natural signatures of the hide — gentle markings, tonal variations, and traces of its origin. These are not imperfections, but expressions of authenticity.
With time and use, your leather will soften, strengthen, and take on a character entirely its own — becoming more beautiful with every year.
A Thoughtful, Sustainable Choice
Sustainability is integral to the Hanas Leather philosophy.

Caring well for your leather honours both craftsmanship and the environment.
